The Story of the Autograph

This is my second successful return from Ed Romero. For more about him check out my post from October 2017.

The Score on Ed Romero – 6.0

Ed’s signature is nice and big. It’s go a little bit of style too while still being a little bit messy. I’ll have to think about what to do with that 1981 Topps card. I have versions of that card signed by Ned Yost and Ed. The question then becomes, will I send one of those versions to the other guys to sign?

Thanks Mr. Romero! I’m giving this one a 6.

Ed managed in the Astros’ chain a few years back. He’d sign at games pretty regularly, but for such a good signer he was surprisingly grumpy. I don’t think I ever saw him really be in a good mood about it. I think he takes his time more when he does his mail but he does sign very fast, hence, the messiness you noted. I don’t think he’s currently managing.

I probably could argue both way for signing fast. Some guys probably sign faster in-person, some via TTM. But I would bet TTM is usually faster as it gets to be more of an “assembly line” where as in-person at a game can kind of have breaks. As long as they are willing to put some good ink on a card I am happy. We know that there a lot more out there that do less than Ed does.
