The Story of the Autograph

David Robertson is a relief pitcher who currently plays for the Philadelphia Phillies. His professional career began in 2008 with the Yankees. He then moved on to the White Sox and back to the Yankees before signing with the Phillies for 2019.

Robertson was born and raised in Alabama. After a strong high school career he moved on to the University of Alabama. As a freshman with the Crimson Tide he set a rookie record for strikeouts. He helped the team to an SEC championship in his sophomore season and then in 2006 the Yankees drafted him in the 17th round.

He made his major league debut on June 29, 2008. He was up and down to the minors a bit for 2008 and 2009, but made the postseason roster for the 2009 playoffs. He made it through some high pressure situations to help the Yankees to the 2009 World Series title over the Phillies. He worked his way up to the setup role for Mariano Rivera and made an All-Star appearance in 2011.

He signed a free agent deal to go to the White Sox in 2015 after turning down the Yankees contract offer. He was almost traded to the Nationals, but ended up going back to the Yankees in 2017. Now he’s with the Phillies after signing a new deal in the offseason and figures to be a big part of their relief core.

David has a really solid signature. He isn’t the most reliable signer, but I have another TTM from him in the past. I actually got this card back with some other Phillies and it makes me wonder if they all got together and took care of fan mail. Probably not, but I’d like to think that.

Thanks Mr. Robertson! I’m giving this one a 6.5.
