The Story of the Autograph

Scott Case played in the defensive backfield in the NFL from 1984 through 1995. All but his last year were spent in Atlanta while that last year was spend in Dallas.

Case grew up in Oklahoma and was slated to go to Oklahoma State. They took his scholarship off the table though and he ended up playing for NE Oklahoma A&M in his freshman and sophomore years and then on to be a Sooner after that.  He started at cornerback and switched to free safety as a senior. He ended up setting a school single-season record in interceptions that year.

The Falcons selected him in the second round of the 1984 NFL draft and he became the starter at strong safety by his second year in the league. He was a hard hitter and good tackler. He then moved to the cornerback position the next year. In 1988 he made the Pro Bowl after leading the league in interceptions with 10 (a franchise record). In all his years with the Falcons he only had one winning season in 1991.

In August of 1994 he signed as a free agent with the Cowboys who at the time were coached by his college coach, Barry Switzer. He was part of a team that went on to win Super Bowl XXX against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Scott has a nice auto with some big capital letters and then some squiggly lower case letters. All of the cards came out OK except for the ’89 Pro Set which picked up a smudge on the number on the end. Otherwise I got pretty lucky with his cards considering he was a Falcon. Two of the cards have the red/white uniforms, and the ones that done have some nice areas for signing.

Thanks Mr. Case! I’m giving these a 6.
