It was another kind of crazy week in my house this week. Both of my kids were part of their high school’s presentation of Dracula, so it was a show week. That generally means a lot of long hours at school for the kids AND days on days of performances and work (queue to queue, dress rehearsals, performances, and then strike to clean it all up).
On top of all that is was my oldest’s final performance and they were a lead. I was kind of prepared to get more verklempt than I did. I felt a little bit last night at the final show when the lights went out for the first time before the start. But luckily, Dracula is not the kind of show that brings out those emotions.
The kids all did a great job. They set, costumes, lighting and all the tech were really great. On top of that there was a movement ensemble they created that was amazing. While it’s horror, it’s not like scary stuff… more creepy. There was some blood and gore they got to do which was great.
This is the play that goes up for awards so I’m crossing my fingers it went over well with the critics that were there last night.
Hope you are enjoying your weekend!
The Review
Here’s what happened on the blog last week:
- Monday: Steve Brye
- Tuesday: Steve Buechele, Alan Bannister
- Wednesday: Darrin Jackson
- Thursday: Dave Roberts
- Friday: Danny Darwin
- Saturday: Bill Haselman
- Sunday: Jim Barr
There was a Rangers theme to the #twofortuesday this week. But I realized I could have made it a #fourforfriday or something like that because there were four Rangers that came up in the list this week. I also could have made a “Steve” theme to the #twofortuesday as well.
The Preview
Here’s what I have coming up for this week:
- Monday: Roger that…
- Tuesday: The Butler did it…
- Tuesday: You don’t know Jack…
- Wednesday: Helms Deep…
- Thursday: Drinkin’ a Bruhert…
- Friday: On the John…
- Saturday: Famous Amos…
- Sunday: He’s not the Marion type…
The #twofortuesday theme this week will be football themed. There were a few football choices that came up in the oldest stuff I had in the backlog so I just picked two of those.
Other Notes
I’m having a hard time getting used to the pace at which I’m getting back my latest returns. I seem to be getting things back at about a 50% ish clip of how I send out for a week. I was more like 75% previously, or that’s closer to what I was aiming for. I normally don’t like to look at that (because sometimes I feel like it’s disappointing) but in order to get my brain about getting back less, I have to remember that it’s because I am sending out less. I just want the rate to be similar.
This week I had 10 successful returns. That’s just slightly better than some other recent weeks. But the other thing I am seeing is that I’m not getting the most recent things back at the same rate. There were some weeks in previous months that I had no stragglers. This week I had two stragglers: Enos Cabell at 682 days and OJ McDuffie at 252 days. Plus there were three others over 100 days. I really just feel like there should be more recent stuff coming back. But maybe I’m sending a few more oddball returners than I think and before I was sending to more reliable guys.
