The Story of the Autograph

Mo Sanford is a right-handed pitcher in the major leagues. He played from 1991 to 1995 with the Cincinnati Reds, Colorado Rockies, and Minnesota Twins.

Sanford was born in Georgia and went to high school in Mississippi. He was drafted as he graduated high school by the New York Yankees in the third round of the 1984 MLB Draft but chose not to sign. Instead he went on to attend the University of Alabama and play for the Tide. Four years later he was picked by the Cincinnati Reds in the 32nd round of the 1988 MLB Draft. After a few years in the minors he made his debut on August 8, 1991.

He made it into five games to close out the 1991 season, all of them starts. He went 1-2 with a 3.86 ERA. 1992 was spent completely in the minors and the Reds left him available for the expansion draft. Colorado chose him as the 62nd pick of the draft. He played in eleven games in their inaugural season of 1993 with six of those games being starts. Unfortunately he matched his record for the Reds with 1-2, but he also had a 5.30 ERA.

He signed with the Twins after becoming a free agent and spent the 1994 season in the minors. He got one last shot in 1995 in Minnesota and played in eleven games, all in relief and matched his 5.30 ERA from his previous season in the majors.

The Score on Mo Sanford – 4.5

BraveSTARR Score LogoBraveSTARR Score 4.5

Mo used the dreaded ball point on these bad boys. From a scoring standpoint that sort of puts these behind the eight ball right from the start. It comes out OK on the Topps and Upper Deck cards, but not as good on the others. He does really fill up the cards but I would love to see it with a marker. I will probably try him again in the future to see if I can get some better versions of these.

Thanks Mr. Sanford! I’m giving this return a 4.5.
