The Story of the Autograph

Mike Bruhert is a former right-handed pitcher in the major leagues. He played during only one season in the majors, 1978, and spent that season with the Mets.

Bruhert is a native of Queens, New York. He wasn’t particularly successful in high school and only won one game as a pitcher in four seasons. He then worked serving ice cream and played for a local team. But success in the local summer league led to a try out at Shea Stadium and signed with the Mets before the 1971 season. He would move around before appearing in the majors though.

In 1972 he moved on to the Phillies in the rule 5 draft, then he came back in 1973. After a lot of time in the farm system he made his major league debut on April 9, 1978. He would go 4-1 with a 4.78 ERA for the season In 27 games with 22 starts. The following season he was traded to the Rangers with Bob Myrick for Dock Ellis. He never made it back to the majors though.

While this card is not in great shape, Mike’s signature is. He used a great marker and has a nice legible signature. The card is bright enough that it shows off the signature really well.

Thanks Mr. Bruhert! I’m giving this one a 7.
