The Story of the Autograph

John Crotty is a former guard in the NBA. He played with the Utah Jazz (twice), Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Portland Trail Blazers, Seattle SuperSonics, Detroit Pistons and Denver Nuggets in a eleven year career that spanned from 1992 to 2003.

Crotty is a native of New Jersey. In high school he was a McDonald’s All-American and second-team Parade All-American. While he was recruited by the likes of Notre Dame, North Carolina, Stanford and Villanova, he chose to attend Virginia. He holds the Wahoo- record for assists in a season and was only recently passed for career assists. He earned first and third-team All-ACC honors while there and was an honorable mention All-American.

He was not drafted and first signed with the Utah Jazz. He was always a bench player during his career. Most years, all except for five seasons, he wouldn’t play in more than 45 games. He also never averaged more than 20 minutes per game for his career. He averaged four points, 1.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game for his career.

When his playing days were over he became an analyst for the Miami Heat.

This is a really strong signature for John. Of course that marker makes for a lot of success. It’s nice and clean and puts down a thick line. It looks really great on those Fleer Ultra cards because of that shiny finish. I think it came out the best on the 1993 Fleer Ultra card.

Thanks Mr. Crotty! I’m giving this return a 6.5 overall.
