The Story of the Autograph

Mike Blowers played in the majors from 1989 through 1999 and was primarily a third baseman. He played for the Yankees, Mariners (in three stints), Dodgers, and Athletics.

Blowers grew up with a parent in the army. He was born in Wurzburg, Germany  but lived in Oklahoma and Washington state as well. After high school he stayed in Washington and attended Tacoma Community College and the University of Washington. The Mariners drafted him after his freshman year but he didn’t sign (same with the Giants and Orioles). In 1986 the Expos drafted him after his only year with the Huskies and he signed.

Before blowers made it through the minors he was traded to the Yankees. In 1989 he was traded for John Candelaria. The Yankees gave him his major league debut on September 1, 1989. He only played for the Yankees a little bit in three years and was traded to the Mariners in May of 1991.

His best years came in his main stint in Seattle from 1992 through 1995. ’95 was probably his best year given it was one of the three years he got significant playing time (over 100 games). That year he played 134 games and hit .257 with 23 homers and 96 RBI (33 of them in August – a team record for a month) for a team that made it to the ALCS.

Blowers has been the color commentator for the Mariners on TV since 2007.

The Score on Mike Blowers – 6.0

Mike has a solid signature and he really fills up the card pretty well. The pictures don’t really to the autographs justice in the opposite way you would think. The pictures make the auto stand out a bit more than it does live. Those dark Yankee jerseys just don’t help anything out.

Thanks Mr. Blowers! I’m giving these a 6.
