The Story of the Autograph
Luke Weaver is currently an Arizona Diamondback after a trade this offseason. He’s a starting pitcher who thus far has played in the Cardinals organization and with them in the majors from 2016 through 2018 with last year seeing his most significant time.
Weaver was born and raised in Florida and went to Florida State University (after not signing with the Blue Jays out of high school in 2011). He played there from 2012 through 2014 and had a pretty good sophomore and junior season. The Cardinals then selected him in the first round of the MLB draft in 2014 and he played in the minors for them for a couple years. He made his debut with the Cardinals on August 13, 2016.
After playing a bunch in the minors in 2017, 2018 was his year to get some time. Last year he appeared in 30 games with 25 starts. He had a 7-11 record and a 4.95 ERA. On December 5th the Cardinals traded Weaver along with two other players to the Arizona Diamondbacks for Paul Goldschmidt.

Luke has an autograph that looks a bit like he’s drawing a wave. It’s almost loopy but not quite. They came out well on these cards but I think the think that hurts it a little bit is the thinness of the marker. If it was a little thicker it would have stuck out more. On the Heritage card that’s important because he signed over the letters on his jersey.
