The Story of the Autograph

Henry Jones is a former safety in the NFL. He played from 1991 to 2002 with the Buffalo Bills, Minnesota Vikings, and Atlanta Falcons.

Jones is a native of St. Louis, Missouri. After high school he attended the University of Illinois and played for the Fighting Illini. The Bills made him a first round pick in the 1991 NFL Draft with the 26th overall pick of the draft. He had some pretty good seasons in the NFL overall and he went to the Super Bowl with the Bills a few times. All of them in losing efforts, but I think we can agree that it was a huge accomplishment for the Bills to be so good and consistent during those years.

His best season dwarfs all of his other seasons by far. In 1992 he made the Pro Bowl and was All-Pro as he tied for the league lead in interceptions with eight. He returned two of those for touchdowns, one of which was returned 82 yards for a pick six. Plus he had 92 tackles, a career high. Unfortunately during the rest of his career he only had 10 more interceptions, all for the Bills.

He went to Minnesota in 2001 and then closed out his career with Atlanta in 2002.

I think the marker just let Henry down on these. Maybe he was signing a bunch that day and mine were just at the end. I know a lot of times on football cards the jerseys can be dark and the images can be busy, but the marker was not going to safe any of that on this return. I think my favorite of the bunch is the 1994 Topps Stadium Club card because that’s the crispest image.

Thanks Mr. Jones! I’m giving this return a 5.
