Breaking Blasters: 2018 Absolute

Breaking Blasters: 2018 Absolute

This next round of Breaking Blasters is for 2018 Absolute Football. It’s another shiny Panini product. But unlike Prizm, this shiny comes off a whole lot more high end. Heck, these things are virtually mirrors. You can even see my phone/reflection in half the pictures. Of course, that takes away from how these actually look. I guess if you like the look of yourself then you’ll like these because you’ll see yourself in them.

I like Absolute, but it’s a lot to take in. I guess you can compare it to like a rich chocolate cake. You get a big piece in the restaurant and your thinking this is going to be so good. And then it comes out and it has these great decorations and a modern design and your thinking, “this is just like something I’d see on TV.” Then you take a bite and it’s good. But as you eat more and more, you realize there is no way your finishing it. That’s the way I felt after a couple packs.

Don’t forget to check out some of the other recent football blasters I broke open too: 2018 Panini Prizm, 2018 Rookies & Stars, 2018 Donruss Football, 2018 Prestige, 2018 Score.

Alternate Colors

Breaking Blasters: 2018 Absolute

I have a lot of things I like with this design but probably my favorite are the color choices. The alternate or secondary colors are a good choice. They are certainly a bold choice for the Seahawks though. I can definitely see someone make a crack about that green.

Then I like the way the team name is cropped off the edge. I mean I know what teams they are but that’s nice and big and they include the team name below the player’s name. And the mirror logo with the lines on the bottom of the card and the solid top. This design just works for me.

Again, it’s a lot to take in, but the design is cool.

Rookie Product

Breaking Blasters: 2018 Absolute

The rookie cards are different just like in Rookies & Stars and the rookie inserts are OK. I didn’t get much when it came to rookies that I really recognized except for the Josh Allen Introductions card. To bad that is the parallel that I like the least out of all of them.

Jaleel Scott is a name you’ll see again in these posts. I think I got to jersey cards with his name on it.

The Good Inserts

I liked all of these inserts. Again we have a bold green choice on the Covering Ground card. It’s also something to notice with that one that a lot of these cards came out before guys switched teams as you’ll note that Brandin Cooks is not a Patriot.

Damn, those landscape parallels get me every time. I really like the idea of the late game heroics. And if you’re going get one, I really think the James White Super Bowl card is the one to get.

More Inserts and Parallels

Breaking Blasters: 2018 Absolute

I’m digging that Howie Long card. In most cases I am not a fan of old guy on new card, especially old guy on fancy new insert card. This one works. To me that as to do with the silver & black and the background of the card being simple enough (yes, I know it’s crazy rainbow but it ain’t busy).

As for the parallel, you can’t even notice in this shot that it’s parallel. It’s got a glitter feel to all the parts of the card whereas the base cards are just a solid color.

Absolute is definitely a step up from the first two blasters I opened. I just could only get through so much of it. I’m glad I stuck to the one blaster I was trying out.
