The Story of the Autograph

Braylon Edwards is a former wide receiver in the NFL. He played from 2005 to 2012 with the Cleveland Browns, New York Jets (twice), San Francisco 49ers, and Seattle Seahawks.

Edwards was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He starred in football and track in high school and then went on to a stellar career playing football at the University of Michigan. He won the Fred Biletnikoff Award as the country’s top receiver and set several school records. He ended his college career with a three touchdown performance in the 2005 Rose Bowl again Texas.

The Browns drafted Edwards with the third overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft. He got off to a rough start by holding out to start and then picking up a staph infection. That put him down on the depth chart but he was starting by mid-season. Unfortunately his season ended with a knee injury that would require surgery.

He improved in 2006 and then broke out in 2007 with what would be a career year. He put up 1289 yards and 16 touchdowns on eighty catches. That earned him his first and only Pro Bowl and All-Pro bids, the first Browns receiver to get a Pro Bowl appearance since Webster Slaughter in 1989.

Things went downhill from there with the Browns and then he was traded to the Jets. He moved around a bunch but was never the same as he was in 2007.

I was actually kind of surprised that I found Braylon’s address out there. Not a lot of players from his era are big signers that I have seen via TTM so it’s always nice to find. These game out nice. I especially like the Jets card because of the design but I think his signature came out better overall on the Browns card.

Thanks Mr. Edwards! I’m giving this return a 7.
