The Story of the Autograph
Bob Hurley Sr. is a former high school basketball coach and member of the Basketball Hall of Fame. He won the USA National Coach of the Year three times (1989, 1996, 2008) and won four national and 26 state titles.
Hurley is a native of New Jersey. He went to St. Peter’s College but was cut from the basketball team in his sophmore year. He then started volunteering as a coach for a CYO team. In 1972 he started his career at St. Anthony and continued to coach there for decades. St. Anthony is now closed.
Over the years he helped prep 150 Division 1 players on full scholarships. Six of those teams went on to become first round draft picks in the NBA. That includes his son Bobby Hurley. Both of his sons now coach in Division one with Bobby at Arizona State and Dan at UConn.

I think any time you get a card back with that “HOF” on it, that’s a good thing. Bobby was able to do that. I think on top of that I love that he’s signing the basketball on the card. I always love a card signed, where there’s a signature happening. The autograph on this one didn’t come out great because the marker seems a little light, but it sticks out enough.
