The Story of the Autograph
Andre Ware is a former quarterback in the NFL, CFL and NFL Europe. He played from 1990 to 1993 for the Detroit Lions and then from 1995 to 1999 for the Ottawa Rough Riders, BC Lions, Toronto Argonauts, and Berlin Thunder.
Ware is a Texas boy through and through. He grew up in the Galveston area. He went on to play for the Houston Cougars in college and won the 1989 Heisman Trophy after an amazing season in their high powered offense. He set 26 NCAA records before foregoing his senior year to enter the NFL Draft.
The Lions took him with the seventh overall pick in the first round of the 1990 NFL Draft. The Lions scouts didn’t want to take him but Wayne Fontes overrode them. When he joined the team the Lions had the Heisman winners from 1988 (Barry Sanders) and 1989 on their team. But Ware spent four season in Detroit and only started six of the fourteen games he played in for his career.
In 1994 he moved on the the Los Angeles Raiders but he was released before getting into a game. He then tried to make it with the Jaguars in 1995 but they cut him as well. He moved on the to the CFL and NFL Europe before calling it a career.
These days he works the Houston Texans radio broadcasts. He’s also worked for ESPN’s college broadcasts.
The Score on Andre Ware – 7.5
Some feel that Andre didn’t get enough of a shot in the NFL and others feel that the system he played in in college made him appear more than he was. Given he underperformed as a professional, I think his autograph is much better than how his pro career went These came out great and since all of these jerseys are white and the cards are bright they really show it off well.
