The Story of the Autograph
This is my second successful return from Don August. The first came back in June of 2017.
August was born and raised in California and after high school he attended Chapman University where he was a Division II All-American. He played in the 1984 Summer Olympics and won a silver medal with the US Team. After that he was drafted by the Houston Astros with the 17th overall pick in the 1984 MLB Draft. He didn’t make it to the bigs with them though as he was traded in 1986 with another player in exchange for Danny Darwin.
He made his debut with the Brewers two season later on June 2, 1988. He started 22 of the 24 games he appeared in that year and put up a 13-7 record with a 3.09 ERA. That was enough to be considered in the Top 5 of the Rookie of the Year voting for 1988. He slipped to a .500 record in 1989 though. He didn’t do much in the majors in 1990 and then had another middling season in 1991 with the Brewers.
He tried to make it with four other teams in the minors through 1995 until finally calling it quits.

Don is always good for a really solid signature. A few of these cards were great for getting signed. I know the last time I got his signature I wanted to find the USA Baseball card from 1985 so I’m glad I got that to him this time.
