The Story of the Autograph

Aaron Judge is an outfielder with the New York Yankees. He’s been in the league since 2016 and spent his whole career to this point in the Bronx.

Judge was born and raised in Linden, California. He not only played baseball in high school but also football and basketball. He was recruited to play college football and the Oakland Athletics took him in the 31st round of the 2010 MLB Draft but he opted not to sign. Instead he went to Fresno State and play baseball. Then in 2013 the Yankees selected him in the first round with the 32nd overall pick.

After playing well on his way through the minors, including being a AAA All-Star in 2016, he made his major league debut on August 13, 2016. He played in 27 games to finish out the year but it wasn’t super impressive, probably a little bit to do with an injury he picked up. In 2017 he made the Opening Day roster and went on an absolute tear. He played 155 games, hit .284 with a league and then rookie record 52 homers and 114 RBI. He also lead the league in walks… and strikeouts. Still he was an All-Star, Silver Slugger, and ultimately the Rookie of the Year.

While he’s had some injuries since then, when healthy he puts up some big numbers. He’s earned two more All-Star nods and another Silver Slugger in 2021. He’s a feared hitter who has become adept at finding the short right field porch in Yankee Stadium, not that he couldn’t hit bombs anywhere.

This is one of those returns that I had sent out as a flyer anyway and totally written off. I sent it to the Yankees and at this point just assumed it was gone. That happens a lot with the magazines I send. But Aaron did a good job of putting a big signature on this. I think the image doesn’t give a great place to sign and the marker is a little thin to stick out on it, but this one is still pretty good. It did get a little messed up in the corner but after being gone so long, I’ll take it.

Thanks Mr. Judge! I’m giving this return a 7.
