The Story of the Autograph

Brad Keller is a starting pitcher in the major leagues. His career in the big leagues started in 2018 and he’s spent that time with the Kansas City Royals.

Keller was born and raised in Flowery Branch, Georgia. He was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks out of high school in the eighth round of the 2013 MLB Draft. He chose to sign with them instead of going to Presbyterian College. He spent the next several years in the Diamondbacks system. Then in December 2017 he was chosen by the Reds in the Rule 5 draft that year. They immediately traded him to the Royals.

He made the Opening Day roster and pitched his first game on March 29, 2018. In that first season he would split time between the starting rotation and the bullpen and had a really good year. He appeared in 41 games with 20 starts and went 9-6 with a 3.08 ERA. Since then he’s been a starting pitcher only. He’s been a bit up and down each year. It seems like this would turn out to be a good alternate year for him if the pattern sticks.

I’ve seen Brad sign a lot and I feel like I’ve tried him at least once before without success. But normally he appears to be a pretty regular signer. He does a good job filling up your card. These look really good considering that 2019 and 2020 Topps don’t tend to do well with ink. The one thing I think is funny is that his number looks more like “82” than the “56” it should be.

Thanks Mr. Keller! I’m giving this return a 7.
