The Story of the Autograph

Richie Shaffer is a former infielder in the major leagues. He played with he Tampa Bay Rays from 2015 to 2016.

Shaffer was born in New Jersey and went to high school in North Carolina. He was first signed out of high school by the Dodgers in the 25th round of the 2009 MLB Draft but decided to attend Clemson University instead. In 2012 the Rays chose him in the first round of the 2012 MLB Draft with the 25th overall selection. He made his major league debut on August 3, 2015.

Over the next two seasons he would play in 50+ games and hit .213 with five homers and ten RBI. After the 2016 season he was part of a deal that sent him and Taylor Motter to the Mariners for three players. The Mariners put him on waivers and between December 14, 2016 and January 26, 2017 he was put on waivers and taken by another team three times. He would be part of the organizations of the Indians and Brewers through 2018 but never made it back to the majors.

These days he is a Twitch personality under the name Dicky Danger. He’s also pursued writing and in October 2020 he put out the novel “The Eight of Earth: A Novel.”

The Score on Richie Shaffer – 7.0

These came out really well. I really like Richie’s overlap of the big consonants and how the “R” and the “S” kind of cross over or link with each other. I also love the element of how the bottom of the “R” provides and underline for the rest of his name. Those little elements can make a signature really cool.

Thanks Mr. Shaffer! I’m giving this return a 7.
