The Story of the Autograph
Tom Tupa is a former punter and quarterback in the NFL. He played from 1988 to 2005 with the Phoenix Cardinals, Indianapolis Colts, Cleveland Browns, New England Patriots, New York Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Washington Redskins.
Tupa was born and raised in Ohio. He participated in the NFL’s Punt, Pass, and Kick competition and was a semi-finalist three times and won once. He helped his team to a state championship in football as a quarterback. He also was a shortstop and pitcher on the baseball team and played basketball. He went on to attend college at Ohio State and played quarterback there. While playing quarterback he was also an All-American punter.
The Cardinals drafted him in the third round of the 1988 NFL Draft with the 68th overall pick. He started out playing punter and getting in a couple games at quarterback. He was the primary quarterback in the 1991 season and had a 4-7 record in eleven games. While he had a few passes in a couple seasons after than, he was a punter for the rest of his career.
Tupa went on to become an All-Pro and make the Pro Bowl in 1999 while with the Jets. Then with the Buccaneers he was part of their Super Bowl XXXVII winning team against the Raiders. He retired from football in 2006 and went on to work for his high school alma mater as an offensive coordinator and recreation director.

Tom obviously has a name with repetitive letters in those “Ts”. Those types of names always have the chance to give a signature a good look and I think that’s the case for his signature. I really like the black marker too as it goes really well with the colors on these cards. I think my favorite one is the 1991 Pro Set Platinum card.
