The Story of the Autograph

Taylor Motter is a utlility player who has played recently in the major leagues and in the Korean league. His career started in 2016 and he’s played with the Tampa Bay Rays, Seattle Mariners, Minnesota Twins, Colorado Rockies and Boston Red Sox in the US. In 2020 he played for the Kiwoom Heroes in the KBO.

Motter was born and raised in Florida. He played college baseball for Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina and helped them to with three consecutive Big South Conference championships, make three NCAA Regionals and a Super Regional appearance. The Rays drafted him in the 17th round of the 2011 MLB Draft. He wasn’t called up until 2016 and made his major league debut on May 16, 2016.

He’s bounced around a whole lot since them. He was traded from the Rays to the Mariners, picked up off waivers by the Twins, had his contract purchased by the A’s but never played with the big club, gone the Independent minor league route, played in Korea, played with the Rockies and claimed off waivers by the Red Sox. He’s a free agent as I write this now with the season currently on hold.

His career numbers at this point are 157 games, .191 average, ten homers, 38 RBI, and 13 stolen bases.

The Score on Taylor Motter – 7.0

Taylor seems to have almost your standard “first initial, last name” type of signature. There seems to be a ling that probably represents his first name, but it’s not much of one. From there the “M” and the “tt” give him the zig zaggy or sort of drawn wave option to finish out his name. This was a solid return and I’m most happy that it fills that Rays/expansion team hole in my collection.

Thanks Mr. Motter! I’m giving this return a 7 overall.
