The Story of the Autograph

Scott Studwell is a former lineback in the NFL. He played from 1977 through 1990 and spent his entire career with the Minnesota Vikings.

Studwell was born and raised in Indiana. He went to college at the University of Illinois and was a great linebacker for the Illini. Upon finishing his college career he was ranked second behind Dick Butkus in career tackles. The Vikings drafted him in the ninth round of the 1977 NFL Draft.

He didn’t start immediately and or the first three years of his career he was lower on the depth chart. But starting in 1980 he was pretty much starting in almost every game he played in for the rest of his career. He went on to earn a Second-team All-Pro selection in 1988 and made the Pro Bowl in 1987 and 1988. The Vikings have since inducted him into their Ring of Honor and he was a member of their 25th and 40th Anniversary teams and as one of the 50 greatest Vikings in 2010.

After his career he moved into the Viking front office. Mostly he worked as a scout and helped prep for the draft. Last year (2019) he officially retired from the Vikings organization that he’d been a part of in different capacities for 42 years.

Scot has a great signature. Those “S”s are AMAZING and it looks like he takes a lot of care in signing. Plus he used a really great marker that you can see stands out on the cards no matter what. But I think what brings it home is the Pro Set Legends sub set card. I love seeing those signed. That’s definitely one of my highest rated cards all year.

Thanks Mr. Studwell! I’m giving this return an 8.0 overall.
