The Story of the Autograph
Scott Downs is a former left-handed pitcher in the major leagues. He worked mostly as a relief pitcher from 2000 to 2014 with the Chicago Cubs, Montreal Expos, Toronto Blue Jays, Los Angeles Angels, Chicago White Sox, and Kansas City Royals.
Downs is a native of Kentucky. He was the state’s Mr. Baseball while in high school and was first drafted by the Braves in the 12th round of the 1994 MLB Draft. He didn’t sign and instead chose to attend the University of Kentucky. In 1997 the Cubs chose in in the third round of the draft and he chose to sign with them. After a few years in the minors (he actually was traded to the Twins and back to the Cubs during his time in the minors) he made his major league debut with them on April 9, 2000. He didn’t stay with the team all that year though. He was traded to the Expos for Rondell White at the deadline.
He was up and down for the Expos and they released him in 2004. The Blue Jays picked him up and he spent the most years with Toronto than any other team he played for. He worked in the set up role for a lot of his time in Toronto and pitched in an AL-leading and career high 81 games in 2007. Literally half of the season he appeared in a game for the Blue Jays.
Downs moved on the the Angels as a free agent in 2011, then bounced around a bunch before calling it a career.

These are really clean cards and the marker looks amazing on these. Scott did a great job. With more modern card you are at risk for more smudges and stuff but these took the ink really well. I have to think that Scott takes care of your cards pretty well too as he is signing them with the way these looks. For instance, I wonder if he shakes them dry a little bit before packing them back up.
