The Story of the Autograph
Russ Grimm is a former offensive lineman in the NFL. The Hall of Famer played from 1981 to 1991 with the Washington Redskins.
Grimm is a native of Pennsylvania. In high school he played quarterback, lineback and punter. He played his college football at Pitt and was going to be a linebacker. However, because of depth at the position, he was asked to become an offensive lineman. First that was as a tackle, but he decided to focus on being a center. He would gain almost 70 pounds during his college career. He played with future NFL players Dan Marino, Rickey Jackson, Mark May, Hugh Green, Bill Maas, Dwight Collins, Jim Covert, and Tim Lewis while he was there.
The Redskins drafted him with a third round pick in the 1981 NFL Draft. He would become a member of the line known as “The Hogs” in DC through the 80’s and 90’s, some of the best offensive lines in NFL history. He helped the team to four Super Bowls (winning three), was First-team All-Pro four times consecutively from 1983 to 1986, was also a Pro Bowler during those same years he was All-Pro, was named to the NFL 80’s All-Decade Team, also named one of the 80 Greatest Redskins, and as said earlier is a Hall of Famer.
After playing he went into coaching. He spent time with the Redskins and helped with the development of Chris Samuels and Jon Jansen. He then moved on to the Steelers where he was the o-line coach and an assistant head coach. He also was with the Cardinals and Titans. He was considered for head coach several times but never made it to that position.

This is a great return from Russ. I really love the “Hogs” inscription but adding that to the “HOF 2010” inscription makes it even better. I am definitely not a fan of Washington but I always remember the battles with my favorite Giants teams of the 80’s with Summerall and Madden commenting on the game. Good times!
