The Story of the Autograph
Rodney Holman played tight end for the Cincinnati Bengals and Detroit Lions over a thirteen year career in the NFL. He played from 1982 though 1995 and made three Pro Bowls and was a three-time All-Pro, all from 1988 through 1990 with the Bengals.
Holman grew up in Michigan and was an all-state wrestler in addition to being a star on the football field. He went on to play for Tulane, starting all four seasons he was there. He set school records for receptions and receiving yards by a tight end. While Rodney was part of the team the Green Wave had a lot more success than they had in the past. They posted a 26-20 record and made consecutive Bowl appearances for the first time ever. Eddie Murray was also a part of those teams for some of Rodney’s time there.
Eddie was chosen in the 3rd round of the 1982 Draft by the Bengals. He was an excellent blocker as well as a receiver and during those great years he had in the late 80’s he helped the Bengals make an appearance in Super Bowl XXIII. His best statistical year by far was 1989 where he caught 50 passes for 736 yards and 9 touchdowns. All of those numbers represent career highs. His 318 receptions with the Bengals are the most ever by a tight end in franchise history.

Rodney has a combine signature and it looks like it ends up just showing “Rodney H”. I kind of like the almost happy face that it makes. I’m not sure if that’s what it’s supposed to be but it reminds me of when a teacher make a face when you get a “100” on your homework. The marker is good on all of these, but I especially like the Pro Set because I love those art cards in that set.
