The Story of the Autograph
Robert Quinn is a defensive and for the Los Angeles Rams. He’s been a Ram since being drafted out of North Carolina in the 2011 NFL Draft. He was a first round pick and the 14th overall. In high school he became one of the top recruits in the country, as you would expect for a guy who ended up being drafted that high. But during his senior year he actually had to undergo brain surgery to remove a benign tumor. And he wasn’t only successful on the field, he was also great on the mat too. Robert was a three-time heavyweight state champ. I’m sure that helps with how he fights those offensive lineman off.
He had a short college career, but not because of an injury or his choice to leave school early. After a good freshman year and an even better sophomore campaign ending in an All-ACC selection, he was ruled ineligible for his junior season after lying to investigators about receiving benefits. After missing that 2010 season he was ready to head to the draft in 2011. North Carolina would later, in 2013, permanently disassociate themselves with Quinn and others for taking improper benefits.
Even thought his stock dropped slightly after sitting out a year and his performance at the combine, the Rams still too him about halfway through the first round of the draft. He was amazing his first few years in the league. But in looking at some of his stats (his sack totals specifically) you can see a bit of a hump in 2013 as he improved and then tailed off a bit. Some of that is due to inury. But check out these sack totals:
- 2011: 5
- 2012:10.5
- 2013: 19
- 2013: 10.5
- 2014: 5
That’s quite the bell curve. His tackle totals are a bit similar, thought not as exact. And it’s also the same for his forced fumbles.
When he’s healthy he’s a really good offensive lineman. He definitely adds to the Rams defensive strength which they added some offensive power to this year.
The Score on Robert Quinn – 4.0
Robert has quite the messy autograph. It almost looks like he’s just signing his first name because I can pick out the “R” and then I feel like the star-like shape would be the “t” and from there I’m not sure. He’s puts his number at the end (from what I can gather but the change between the 9 and the 4 is a little odd. He uses a good marker and he takes up a lot of space which are positives, I just prefer a more careful autograph to this style.
Thanks Mr. Quinn. I’m giving this return a 4.
