Review / Preview – Week of 7/27

TTM Review Preview

This week I got my first failure in almost a month. And when the first one came in, so did some others. Failure from Archie Manning (just a plain RTS), Ron Cey (who looks like he is with a company he works through now), and Von Miller (who returned a magazine after about three years of it being out, were definitely different to see. Don’t get me wrong, I’d rather not see them. But somehow failures at least close the book on things.

I’ve been sending out a lot of autographs to guys that generally take a fee. Not only should that up the chances I get it back (I hope – fingers crossed), it should up the accomplishments of the player. I try to send to guys that I feel are affordable and who you sort of get a value out of. I feel like I have in my head a matrix of what a player did in their career and what they are charging for. Of course, it helps too when you know a charity or group they support.

Let’s dig into the Review / Preview…

The Review

Here’s what happened on the blog last week:

  • Monday: Anthony Telford
  • Tuesday: Jeff Ballard, Tom Niedenfuer
  • Wednesday: Bob Milacki
  • Thursday: Joe Nolan, Card Thoughts: 1990 Score – Score!
  • Friday: Dave Johnson
  • Saturday: John Stefero
  • Sunday: Leo Gomez

#charmcity week was the first week with really everything from one team. I’m sure that was pretty fun for @oriolesrise on Twitter. I know he thinks every week should be #charmcity week. With as many Orioles returns as I’ve had recently, it feels like I could have done a second week maybe.

The Preview

Here’s what I have coming up for this week:

  • Monday: I wonder if he is related to Officer Al Powell?
  • Tuesday: Can you survive the Blitz-Krieg?
  • Tuesday: It Bri-Guy!
  • Wednesday: Ladies and Gentleman, this is your Pilot speaking…
  • Thursday: Nothing… What’s a Cotto with you?
  • Friday: Love his band with his brothers…
  • Saturday: Sounds like another butler’s name…
  • Sunday: Cam-Rom…

The theme is #emeraldcity week and if you aren’t familiar with what that is, maybe the Seattle-ites can help you. Or maybe I just did. I didn’t get to make it as eclectic as I’d like, but I did get two baseball teams into a one baseball team town. That’s a success in itself.

Other Notes

Aside from the three failures, I got back 13 returns this week. That’s a pretty good/normal return week for me it seems like. That definitely keeps the backlog growing. Really as long as I get about eight in a week the backlog will grow. Plus with as many as I get out, I think it should mean that I get more than that a week.

Stay safe and healthy out there!
