The Story of the Autograph

Rejean “Reggie” Lemelin is a former goaltender in the NHL. He played from 1978 to 1993 with the Atlanta/Calgary Flames and the Boston Bruins.

Lemelin is a native of Quebec, Canada. While in junior hockey he was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the seventh round of the 1974 NHL Draft. He never appeared with the Flyers though and would end up making his debut with the Atlanta Flames. He stayed with them when they moved to Calgary and through the 1986-87 season.

He lost his starting job to Mike Vernon and went on the Bruins for the 1987-88 season. He would team with Andy Moog in 1988-89 to win the William M. Jennings Trophy for the fewest team goals allowed. He would battle injuries for the rest of his career and retire in the 1992-93 season.

He would go on to be a goaltending coach for the Philadelphia Flyers.

Reggie doesn’t have too much to his signature. But the other issue here is that these cards definitely don’t give the signature much of an opportunity to shine. If hockey cards are generally busy, goaltending cards can be worse on top of the black from the Bruins uniforms.

Thanks Mr. Lemelin! I’m giving this return a 6.
