The Story of the Autograph

Mike Ramsey is a former defenseman in the NHL. He played from 1979 to 1997 and while most of that time was spent in Buffalo with the Sabres, he also played for the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Detroit Red Wings.

Ramsey was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He went on to attend the University of Minnesota and played hockey there. He was also the youngest member of the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team known for the “Miracle on Ice.” In 1979 he was drafted eleventh overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the NHL Draft and would become one of the most successful players from that Olympic team.

When he was younger he played as an offensive-minded defenseman but when he made it to the NHL he played a toucher game. He serve as a captain of the Sabres team from 1990 to 1992 and made the All-Star team four times during his career (1982, 1983, 1985, and 1986). He moved on to the Penguins when his old coach Scotty Bowman brought him there on Pittsburgh’s run to try to win a third in a row but they were ultimately upset by the Islanders.

He moved again to follow Bowman to Detroit. He would make his first Stanley Cup Finals and play along with a teammate who played on the Soviet team he beat in the Olympics, Vlacheslav Fetisov. But the Red Wings were swept by the Devils.

I’m still learning the hockey guys but it looks like Mike might only sign two per. He didn’t sign all I sent him and he didn’t send all of them back. He also didn’t personalize both. You know I always find it interesting how guys are consistent or not with their personalization or whatever they do on the cards.

Thanks Mr. Ramsey! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
