The Story of the Autograph
Kyle Brady played for the Jets, Jags and Patriots as a tight end over a 13 year career. He was a first round draft choice of the Jets in the 1995 NFL Draft. He played for the Penn state Nittany Lions in college and was a two-time All-Big Ten selection and an All-American as a senior. As a senior Brady was part of an undefeated season, conference championship and the school’s first Rose Bowl victory.
When the Jets drafted Kyle with the ninth overall pick in the 1994 Draft the Jets fans in attendance weren’t too happy. They wanted Sapp and chanted that. I don’t know that they were wrong, but who knows, especially with the Jets. After four years in New York he signed with the Jaguars. His second season in Jacksonville was the best of his career. He caught nearly twice the balls that he did in any other season with 94 catches. He was able to turn those catches into 729 yards and three touchdowns.
He was a great blocker and very durable player (only missing nine games over his whole career), but his blocking skill help lock him up a contract with the Pats in 2007. Belichick was apparently a big Brady fan and would have drafted him in Cleveland but the Jets took him one pick ahead of the Browns that year. Brady played through injuries that year to appear in 14 games. His career ended with Super Bowl XLII and he retired shortly after.
The Score on Kyle Brady – 4.5
This might be a tough grade on a tough card to sign. The Action Packed cards have the player embossed on the card. When something is bumpy or textured it can’t be easy to sign. I don’t know if Kyle really did too much over the embossing but I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt that this one was tough to sign. The thing he did his number and the bible verse OK.
