The Story of the Autograph

Jim Everett is a former quarterback in the NFL. He played from 1986 through 1997 for the Rams, Saints and Chargers.

Everett was born in Kansas but went to high school in New Mexico. He played quarterback but also safety and was recruited to play at Purdue. He spent the first few years as a backup but played very well when he got the chance as a Junior. The Oilers took him with the third overall pick in the 1986 NFL Draft but when they couldn’t work out a deal with him they traded his rights to the Rams.

Everett would play in Los Angeles for eight years and put up some big numbers in a good offense. He led the league in touchdowns in ’88 and ’89 but he only made one Pro Bowl in the 1990 season. His best season was probably 1989 when he led the Rams to an 11-5 record and threw for over 4,300 yards with 29 touchdowns and 17 interceptions.

Unfortunately for Jim, he might be best known for an incident with Jim Rome on his talk show. Rome gave Everett a jab by referring to him as Chris (as in Chris Evert the female tennis player), trying to say he was not tough.

This is the second time I’ve attempted to get Jim. The first time… nothing. The thing is I don’t know that I tried at a different address this time. Unfortunately this card is so dark. I think that blue would have looked great on a better card with that Rams jersey. And this is the jersey that the current Rams should be wearing.

Thanks Mr. Everett! I’m giving this return a 5.5.
