The Story of the Autograph

David Fulcher is a former safety in the NFL. He played from 1986 through 1992 primarily for the Bengals, but spend the last year of his career with the Los Angeles Raiders.

Fulcher was born and raised in California. He went to Arizona State where he quickly became known as a punishing tackler. He earned the nickname “Fo-Rock” for a hit he delivered once where the wide receiver said he felt like he ran into a rock. Because some people pronounce his last name “Fo-cher” the “Fo” was added to “Rock.” He left the Sun Devils after his junior year.

The Bengals selected Fulcher in the third round of the 1986 NFL Draft with the 78th overall pick. After two good years, Fulcher was already being recognized as one of the best defensive backs in the league. He then went on a run of three straight Pro Bowl appearances and one All-Pro selection in 1989. That was his career year with a career high eight interceptions and four fumble recoveries.

After football Fulcher’s has been a fundraiser for different causes, but in particular for multiple sclerosis and founded the non-profit MANA (Mentoring Against Negative Actions) to work with inmates and teach them life skills. He’s also coached high school football in Cincinnati.

David used a great pen and really used all the card. Normally I don’t like it when a guy kind of signs over their face, but that 1991 Pro Set art card is one of my favorite styles of card from back then and I don’t think you can ruin it. But even the others are really great.

Thanks Mr. Fulcher! This return gets a 7 overall.
