The Story of the Autograph

Daniel Descalso is a second baseman currently playing for the Arizona Diamondbacks. His career started in 2010 when he debuted for the Cardinals. From there he moved to Colorado in 2015 and then Arizona in 2017. While he’s played a majority of the time at second base he’s also put some time in at third and short and other places on the diamond during his major league career.

Daniel was born and raised in California. He was a great baseball player in high school but also played football. He went to college at UC Davis where he played third base and put up some of the best stats the school has ever seen. When he was a junior the Cardinals selected him in the third round of the 2007 Draft.

He’s not a tremendous hitter with a lifetime average of .240, and even in his best years he’s only gotten up to .265. Up until his last two years in Arizona his highs in homers and RBI were 8 and 43 respectively. But the last two years he has 23 homers and 108 RBI combined. 2011 was his first full year in the majors and it was a pretty special one as he was part of the Cardinal team that beat the Rangers for the World Series title that year.

Descalso is currently a free agent.

Daniel has a very clean autograph. I actually have the 2011 Heritage card signed by him already but this one came out a whole lot better because I like the marker he used. It’s nice and think and it stands out a lot better than the thin one he used last time. He’s got a pretty consistent signature and it seems like he’s always signed after the season is over for me.

Thanks Mr. Descalso! These get a 7.5.
