The Story of the Autograph
Craig Wolanin is a former defenseman in the NHL. He played from 1985 to 1998 with the New Jersey Devils, Quebec Nordiques, Colorado Avalanche, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Toronto Maple Leafs.
Wolanin was born in Grosse Pointe, Michigan and played his youth hockey in the Detroit area. He helped his team to win the Michigan AAA State Championship. He then went on to play for the Kitchener Rangers of the OHL. The Devils then chose him with the third overall pick in the first round of the 1985 NHL Draft. He made his debut for them on October 10, 1985.
He was firmly established in the lineup in his second season in the league. He was a strong defensive player, but score the first playoff goal in Devils franchise history in 1988. Injuries and a demotion closed out his time with the Devils and they traded him to Quebec. Unfortunately the Nordiques were a not a very good team.
Then before the 1995-96 season they moved to Colorado and as the Avalanche they went on to win the Stanley Cup. He made a huge mistake during the Western Conference semis and he sat for the rest of the playoffs. He still earned a his name being engraved on the Cup because of his time with the team that season.
He finished out his career in Tampa Bay and Toronto before calling it a career.
The Score on Craig Wolanin – 5.5
Craig has a great looking signature. It’s full of curly letters and loops and I like it. The blue marker goes well with the Nordiques uniforms. I think the best of this bunch is the 1991 Pro Set card because of how well it shows off the signature. The marker is a little bit light in places on two of these cards though.
