The Story of the Autograph

Brook Fordyce is a former catcher in the major leagues. He played from 1995 to 2004 with the New York Mets, Cincinnati Reds, Chicago White Sox, Baltimore Orioles, and Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

Fordyce is a native of Connecticut. He played both football in baseball in high school but an injury ended up forcing him to concentrate on baseball. The Mets drafted him out of high school in the third round of the 1989 MLB Draft. He made his major league debut on April 26, 1995. However, in his first year with the Mets and then the next year in Cincinnati, he only made eight total appearances. In 1997 he got a better shot with the Reds when he played in 47 games.

It wasn’t until 1999 that he got one of the best shots he had when he played in 105 games for the White Sox. That year he hit nine homers and had 49 RBI (a career high) with a .297 batting average. He had another great year the following year, with fourteen homers  (a career high) and 49 RBI (matching his previous career high) and a .301 average. He did that while splitting time between the Sox and the Orioles as he was traded to Baltimore with others for Harold Baines and Charles Johnson.

He was really a back up catcher for the majority of his career though with his last significant work done with Baltimore in 2003 when he played in 108 games.

The Score on Brook Fordyce – 5.0

Brook has one of those signature that make it seem like he signs holding the pen at the end. There’s really not much to his signature and it looks like it’s mostly initials. The marker on this one didn’t really do him any favors to as its running out or maybe he was just signing quickly.

Thanks Mr. Fordyce! I’m giving this return a 5 overall.
