The Story of the Autograph

Brian Holman is a former right-handed pitcher in the major leagues. He played from 1988-1989 with the Montreal Expos and the Seattle Mariners.

Holman was born and raised in Colorado. He was great in high school and made the All State team. Before his high school career was over he moved to Wichita, Kansas and as a senior made the All State team there as well. The Expos selected him in the first round of the 1983 MLB Draft with the 16th overall pick. He chose to sign instead of going to the University of Nebraska.

He spent five years in the minors before debuting on June 25, 1988. But he only pitched into the next season with the Expos before heading to the Mariners in a huge trade involved Randy Johnson going with him and Mark Langston going to Montreal (among others). He had some pretty good years in Seattle including an almost perfect game in 1990. His last appearance was September 22, 1991.

These days he coaching pitching for amateur and pro players and coaches high school baseball and is a motivational speaker.

The Score on Brian Holman – 6.5

Brian has a big, kind of sweeping signature. There’s only real definition to his “B” and his “H” but he sure gets some good size on them. I think the cards that came out the best of these are actually my least favorite cards – the ’90 Donruss and the ’92 Score.

Thanks Mr. Holman! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
