The Story of the Autograph
Brian Goodwin is a current major league outfielder with the Chicago White Sox. His career started in 2016 and since then he’s played with the Washington Nationals, Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Angels and Cincinnati Reds in addition to the White Sox.
Goodwin was born and raised in Rocky Mountain, North Carolina. He played football and basketball in high school in addition to baseball. But it was playing baseball that he was named the Gatorade North Carolina Player of the Year during his senior season. The White Sox first drafted him out of high school in the 17th round of the 2009 MLB Draft but he didn’t sign. He went on to attend the University of North Carolina but ended up transferring to Miami-Dade College. It was two years later that the Nationals drafted him in the first round of the 2011 MLB Draft.
After several years in the minors he climbed up the Nationals prospect ranks and made his major league debut on August 6, 2016. He never really stay up with the Nationals and in 2018 they traded him to the Kansas City Royals. The Royals released him during the next year’s spring training and he was signed by the Angels. He got the most significant shot with them and played in 136 games in 2019.
He was traded to the Reds in 2019 and this year signed first with the Pirates but was released by them in May. He’s now a member of the White Sox and hit a homer on his debut with them on June 12th.

Brian has a great signature and it looks really good on that 2018 Topps card. I really love his capital letters. I don’t really think I could tell that’s a “G”, but I think what I like best about them is the difference between the size of the caps and the lower case letters.
