The Story of the Autograph
Brian Brennan was a wide receiver in the NFL for nine years. Most would know him as a Cleveland Brown which is where he played from 1984 through 1991. But he also played with the Cincinnati Bengals and the San Diego Chargers during the last year of his career.
Brennan went to Boston College where he was a teammate of Doug Flutie. It seems that the Eagles liked short guys because Brennan was only 5’9″ and 180ish. But back then, the size and shape of players at a lot of positions were different and ranged a lot more. Brennan had some great seasons with BC including is last year where he had 66 catches for 1,149 yards and eight TDs. The Browns drafted him in the 4th round of the 1984 NFL Draft with the 104th overall pick.
Brennan was never the top receiving option but always had solid years with the Browns. His best year was 1986 when he had career highs in all of the normal receiving categories with 55 catches for 838 yards and six touchdowns. He was part of some very successful Browns teams but they always seemed to find heartbreak in the playoffs. In the 1986 playoffs he continued that career best year wit 8 catches for 141 yards and a touchdown in two games that year. Unfortunately, that was the year of “The Drive” for John Elway and the Broncos.
The Score on Brian Brennan – 7.0
Brian has a great signature. The best part is that it’s big. Any time you have someone with the same first and last initials to their name there’s a good chance for a pretty good signature. It’s no guarantee but I find no matter what the letter is that’s doubled it gives a good opportunity for some style to be added to the signature.
Thanks Mr. Brennan! I’m giving these a 7.
