The Story of the Autograph
Tom Herr is a former MLB second baseman who played from 1976 through 1991. He’s best known as a Cardinal which is where he spent the majority of his career. But he also had short stints with the Twins, Phillies, Mets and Giants toward the end of his career. Herr was born-and-raised in Pennsylvania and still lives there today.
He started with the Cardinals in their minor league system in 1975 in Johnson City and made is debut in August of 1979 for St. Louis. He never had a lot of power and only ever hit 8 home runs as a career high (with his next highest season having only 5), but in that same year (1985) he drove in 110 runs. That’s a rare feat in modern baseball and Herr is the last NL player to do it). That 1985 year was a great one for Herr as it marked is only All-Star appearance for his career. He was also fifth in MVP voting that year.
Herr was lucky to play with the Cardinals in those years as they had some great teams. He went to the World Series three times in 1982, 1985, and 1987. If the Cardinals made the playoffs in that era, they got to the Series. But 1982 was the only World Series win they would muster wile playing Milwaukee.
Since 2004 Herr as managed and coached in the minor leagues, both independent and associated with major league teams.

First off, Tom Herr is a really reliable TTM signer. It’s always great to get them back and they usually come back pretty quickly. Maybe just as important is that Tom has a consistently great signature. It’s a pretty good size, but not the largest and he uses a good marker most times. I did get one return from him a couple years ago were he used a ball point pen and that’s not my favorite. But in this case, he didn’t disappoint.
