The Story of the Autograph

Brad Baxter was a fullback in the NFL for seven years in the NFL. He went to Alabama State and was chosen by the Minnesota Vikings with the 303rd pick of the draft in the 11th round of the 1989 NFL Draft. He ended up with the Jets that year and would play his entire career in New York.

Brad saw his first action in 1990 when he started nine games. He showed promise in the time he got by scoring six touchdowns and rushing for 539 yards. The next year his role grew and he started 14 games and had his best season in the NFL. He rushed for 666 yards and scored 11 touchdowns. That was good for the top 10 in rushing touchdowns that year (seventh). In 1992 he started 15 games and set a career high in rushing yards with 698 for a 4.6 yard per carry average and score six touchdowns.

Brad played for a few more years and while 1993 was another solid year, he faded a bit from there. The Jets wanted their fullback to catch more passes and Brad was not normally a pass catcher. He was cut by the Jets prior to the 1996 season after he had missed a week of “voluntary” mini camp in the spring to work with his cattle-hauling business.

The Score on Brad Baxter – 5.5

I like Brad’s autograph a lot. I probably would have given it a higher score even with the Pacific card being a little smudged, but the quality of the pen on these card isn’t great. It came out best on the Skybox card. I like the way Brad does his “Bs” and I also like the stacked, but line auto with how be puts his first name kind of on top of his last name, but then the angle he uses kind of makes it a line. Plus this is a pretty big signature. I think I might have to try Brad again in the future.

Thanks Mr. Baxter! These get a 5.5.
