The Story of the Autograph
Mike Rozier is a former running back in the USFL and the NFL. He played for the Pittsburgh Maulers, Jacksonville Bulls, Houston Oilers and Atlanta Falcons. All this was after a great career in college at Nebraska where he won the 1983 Heisman Trophy.
Rozier was born and raised in Camden, NJ and went on to be a Cornhusker football player. He wasn’t highly recruited and it was an accident with regard to how he was found. The Nebraska staff was watching another school’s film when Rozier kept catching their eye on the other side of the field. He attended a Junior College to improve his grades and then sent to Nebraska for his sophomore year in 1981. He got better each year. Then in 1983 he rushed for 2,100+ yards and score 29 touchdowns to win the Heisman (and a bunch of other awards).
He started in the USFL and in 1985, the last year of the USFL, he had 1,700+ total yards and 15 total touchdowns in Jacksonville for the Spring. Then he went to the NFL with the Oilers and added another 500+ total yards and eight touchdowns. His best year in the NFL was in 1988 with Houston. He gained 1,002 yards on the ground and another 99 via the catch. Plus he score 10 touchdowns on the ground and added another one via the air. He earned Pro Bowl honors in 1987 and 1988.
The Score on Mike Rozier – 5.5
Mike has a pretty cool signature. While an angle on the autograph isn’t strange, he definitely signs at a different angle than most. The Fleer card came out the cleanest, but the card doesn’t show the autograph the best. The Pro Set card has a little bit of a smudge or fingerprint or something on it. I would have given it a higher score if the smudge and card didn’t get in the way.
Thanks Mr. Rozier! This return gets a 4.5.
