The Story of the Autograph
Sherman Corbett is a former left-handed pitcher who spent most of his career in the minors but did play in the majors in three seasons. He played from 1998 to 1990 with the California Angels.
Corbett is a native of Texas. He went to Texas A&M and was drafted from there by the Angels in the 3rd round of the 1984 MLB Draft. After four years in the minors he made his major league debut on May 29, 1988. He made it into 34 games that season going 2-1 with a 4.14 ERA. He would get only eight more appearances in his career, four in each of the next two seasons.
After baseball he coached at Texas-San Antonio and these days is the assistant athletic director there.
The Score on Sherman Corbett – 7.0
Sherman sure has a lot of cards for someone who really only spent most of one year in the league and then not much of the next two. So of course there’s a minor league card of his here which seems fitting. I think the 1989 Fleer card came out the best because you can actually get a good look at the full signature.
Thanks Mr. Corbett! I’m giving this return a 7.
