The Story of the Autograph

Scott Pose is a former outfielder in the major leagues. He played in four different seasons from 1993 to 2000 with the Florida Marlins, New York Yankees, and Kansas City Royals.

Pose was born and raised in Iowa. He went on to attend the University of Arkansas and was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 34th round of the 1989 MLB Draft. He didn’t ever appear with the Reds though. In December of 1992 the Marlins took him in the 1992 rule 5 draft. As part of that inaugural Marlins team he made his major league debut on April 5, 1993. But he only made it into 15 games in the majors that year.

After his time with the Marlins he bounced around as a free agent. He saw more playing time in 1997 with the Yankees, but it was with the Royals that he had his best season. In 1999 he played in 86 games, hit .285 and drove in twelve. Regardless of how his manager felt he was that season, his playing time decrease and work mostly as a pinch hitter the next year. That would be his last year in the majors.

Pose appeared in the 1999 film For the Love of the Game, has done analyst work for the Big Ten Network, and worked for the Durham Bulls radio broadcasts.

Scott is part of my quest to get more recent expansion team signatures. I actually picked up a lot more cards of his after this was sent out. I think he could have a stronger version of his signature if I gave him another shot and some good cards to sign.

Thanks Mr. Pose! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
