Music was big for me this weekend. My band got to play a gig on Friday and one of my favorite pizza places in the area. It was the first real gig we’ve had and in some ways fitting that we played at the pizza place again because it was the last place we played in March of 2020 too. Our old bassist was in town after he had moved to Portland so it was good to see him and he played a few with us too.
Then yesterday we saw The Pietasters, a ska band who has been around for about 30 years. As a punk kid growing up they’ve definitely been one of my favorites for a while. They pretty much play a free show in our county every summer and this time they played a pretty cool place and the show was really fun. They grew up here in Northern Virginia so they have that tie in as well.
Hope you had a fun weekend too, filled with whatever you like to do!
The Review
Here’s what happened on the blog last week:
- Monday: Mark Eichhorn
- Tuesday: Tony Zendejas, Eugene Marve
- Wednesday: Kevin Romine
- Thursday: Eddie Zosky
- Friday: Jeff Reed
- Saturday: John Wehner, July 2021 TTM Report
- Sunday: Don Carman
#twofortuesday was all about football this week. Kind of odd for me because I’ve been sending out and getting back so much baseball these days, but since I have a backlog I’m still getting through some times where I had some more football and basketbal coming back. And that’s not even thinking about the hockey I haven’t gotten to yet. And I was able to get out my July TTM Report. I probably planned that three days straight and kept forgetting.
The Preview
Here’s what I have coming up for this week:
- Monday: Casey at the bat…
- Tuesday: Ya heard my style, I think ya missed LaPoint…
- Tuesday: Freddie’s bro…
- Wednesday: Rainbow…
- Thursday: Those Zaney kids…
- Friday: Oh, Davey…
- Saturday: Another Dave…
- Sunday: Holy Crap! Another Dave…
I don’t have a #twofortuesday planned this week. I could probably do something with all those Daves. I don’t know how they ended up all together like that.
Other Notes
This week “one upped” last week and I got 18 returns back. I had some pretty big days in there too. I think technically I am still missing at least one return I was supposed to get on Monday (of course on Monday – always my problem day). So that could have been a slightly bigger week. I’m hoping things are turning around a bit.
The returns I got back were pretty recent sends so a lot of things were coming back with in 20ish days for the most part. I got a few more coaching returns back and they were guys I didn’t have anything for already: Derrick May and Darren Bragg. There were also a bunch of old favorites with Al Hrabosky, Pat Combs, Bill Castro, Tim Birtsas and Bryn Smith – all guys I know how multiple returns for… some way more than others (ahem… Bryn).
Have a great week!
