I seem to be running into challenges lately with my sports watching. Usually at this time of year I’m watching all Mets. However, with the Rangers in the playoffs I want to watch that too. So what’s your preference or order of importance for watching?
Baseball is my favorite sport by far and playoff hockey might be the most engaging experience for me, so how do I choose? Well, I think overall a playoff run trumps a favorite sport. I remember as a kid you kind of had to make some choices. It hasn’t happened that often where it’s all happening at the same time.
I would also say that sometimes one thing can bleed into another. I remember in 2015 I was in New York with my brother in October and we were up there to see the Mets either in the World Series or one of the playoff rounds. Before we left for the game we watched the Giants play. It was a game (there are so many of them like this) where they played the Saints and score in the last minute. But then let the Saints drive right back down and gave up the game.
That kind of put a bit of a damper on the rest of the day. We were still excited to be going to a big game, but we ended up seeing two games up there and bother were losses (to the Dodgers and then the Royals). So while it’s nice that your teams are in the playoffs or playing well, but it can also have a chance to build on each other in a bad way to.
Hope you had a great weekend!
The Review
Here’s what happened on the blog last week:
- Monday: Pete Ladd
- Tuesday: Brian Holman, Jeff Reboulet
- Wednesday: Thad Bosley
- Thursday: Mike Trombley
- Friday: Jeff Calhoun
- Saturday: Jeff Shaw
- Sunday: Milt Thompson
The blog was all baseball this week, but that’s not surprising as I do mostly baseball. And no theme for the #twofortuesday this week either. Just still plugging through that backlog. It’s actually scary how big it’s gotten.
The Preview
Here’s what I have coming up for this week:
- Monday: Beaupre and arrow…
- Tuesday: King of the castle…
- Tuesday: Good Genes…
- Wednesday: Luis, Luis…
- Thursday: McKey to the city…
- Friday: Guillermo Wonka
- Saturday: And another Juan…
- Sunday: Bring back my Bonnell to me, to me…
Some generic, some specific in the list this week. Just continuing through the backlog for now.
Other Notes
Another good week with with 19 returns. Pretty much right in the range I think I should be at every week. This week was very all or nothing though. The week after a holiday weekend usually is because there just mail that kind of piles up for the Tuesday mail. But this week I got all my returns on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.
There weren’t any big stragglers in my successful returns this week. But the odd thing happened within my failures. I got Jeff Lageman back and it looks like his address changed. And then I got Brady Anderson back and there’s a few odd things about that. First, I got it back after 1469 days… a little over four years! Not sure why it even comes back, especially when I sent to Camden Yards. Second there was a little strip of paper in the envelop but it was not cut correctly and I think it was trying to say “not accepting mail at this address” but it was cut so bad I’m guessing at that.

Have a great week!
