The Story of the Autograph

Mike Trombley is a former right-handed relief pitcher in the major leagues. He played from 1992 to 2002 with the Minnesota Twins (twice), Baltimore Orioles, and Los Angeles Dodgers.

Trombley is a native of Massachusetts. After high school he went to Duke University to baseball with the Blue Devils. The Twins then drafted him in the fourteenth round of the 1989 MLB Draft. Three years later he made his debut on August 19, 1992. Over the next eight season he became more and more a part of the Twins bullpen with 10 appearances and seven starts that first season and ultimately appearing in over 70 games in his later years with them.

He left Minnesota for Baltimore as a free agent and was later traded to the Dodgers and then moved back to Minnesota as a free agent before they released him. After baseball he went in to financial management.

This almost doesn’t look as if he is writing his name. The last name maybe, but I really don’t see an “M” in this. That said, it has that repetitive element that I tend to like in a signature with the way he starts each name. I think my favorite of this bunch is the 1993 Upper Deck cards.

Thanks Mr. Trombley! I’m giving this return a 7 overall.
