The Story of the Autograph

Michel Goulet is a former left wing in the NHL. His sixteen year career lasted from 1979 to 1994 and he played for the Quebec Nordiques and Chicago Blackhawks.

Goulet was born and raised in Quebec, Canada. He first played in the WHA with the Birmingham Bulls during the 1978-79 season. The NHL and WHA then merged and he was eligible for the draft in 1979. The Nordiques selected him with the 20th overall pick of that draft. He would go on to be come a great goal scorer for the Nordiques with seven seasons of at least 40 goals and four of those seasons being of at least 50 goals. He made the All-Star team five times as a Nordique during the 80’s.

Unfortunately the Nordiques just weren’t very good towards the end of the 80’s and failed to make the playoffs for several consecutive seasons and he was traded to Chicago. In 1994 he suffered a severe concussion with a hit to the boards in Montreal and he retired shortly after.

The Nordiques would retire his number just a year later and then he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1998. He’s worked with the Avalanche, Flames and Ducks as a player personnel member.

I need to find some Nordique cards for Michel but I just don’t have that many older cards to use for that. Unless I dig in to things I don’t have doubles for. That might be a possibility because I just don’t really collect hockey like that. I think the best version of these is again the 1990 Score card. I think my favorite card though is the 1990 Upper Deck card.

Thanks Mr. Goulet! I’m giving this return a 6.
