The Story of the Autograph
Derek Norris is a catcher who played in the major leagues for six year. He’s played with the Oakland Athletics, San Diego Padres, and Tampa Bay Rays. He’s currently played with the Sugar Land Skeeters of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, an independent minor league baseball team.
Norris was born and raised in Kansas. He started out at third base before transitioning to catcher. He won a state title and was named as the RISE Magazine Player of the Year in 2006-2007. He committed to Wichita State but was drafted by the Nationals in 2007 and decided to sign with them. He worked his way through the Nationals system but in the winter of 2011 he was traded to the Athletics in a deal for Gio Gonzalez.
He made his major league debut with the A’s in June of 2012. After a couple years of playing as a backup or platooning, Derek got his chance as the primary catcher in 2014 and he didn’t disappoint. He probably had the best season of his career with a career high .270 average in 127 games with 10 homers and 55 RBI. He made his one and only All-Star appearance that year.
Ever since that year he’s gone a bit downhill each year. His playing time went down as he struggled at the plate. He’s played with the Nationals and Tigers around is time with the Rays but was released before playing games with those teams.

I like Derek’s signature. I think it’s a great, free flowing signature. I like a little more definition in a signature but overall this is nice. The Heritage card of course comes trough as a great card to sign. It’s definitely less busy than the other. Man, does Derek look a little evil in the 2017 flagship card or what?
