The Story of the Autograph
Blas Minor is a former right-handed relief pitcher in the major leagues. He played from 1992 to 1997 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Mets, Seattle Mariners and Houston Astros.
Minor is a native of California. He played for Merced College and Arizona State in college. He was drafted four times before he signed with a team. He ended up signing with the Pirates after being drafted in the sixth round of the 1988 MLB Draft. He made his major league debut on July 28, 1992.
He only played one game that first season and got much more of a shot in 1993. That season he appeared in 65 games, almost double the number of games he would play in any other season. He put of an 8-6 record with a 4.10 ERA. But the following season he pitched in seven games with an 8.05 ERA. He was released by the Pirates after 1994 and picked up by the Mets.
He went 402 with a 3.66 ERA with the Mets in 1995 but then was dealt to the Mariners mid-season the following year. He closed out his major league career with the Astros in 1997.
The Score on Blas Minor – 7.5
There’s a good amount of ink on these cards given Blas doesn’t have a particularly long name. They did kind of rub on each other a bit though and you can see some spots where the ink has some holes. I love the transition of his “B” to the “l” in his first name. These cards look really great. One thing I think of with his name is the band Slaughter. I know that might sound weird to some of you but there is a Blas in that band so….
Thanks Mr. Minor! I’m giving this return a 7.5 overall.
