The Story of the Autograph
Wayne Gandy is a former tackle in the NFL. He played from 1994 to 2008 with the Los Angeles/St. Louis Rams, Pittsburgh Steelers, New Orleans Saints, and Atlanta Falcons.
Gandy is a native of Haines City, Florida. He went on to attend Auburn University. He played there from 1990 to 1993 and as a senior was a consensus All-American for the undefeated Tigers. He was then drafted by the Rams with the fifteenth overall pick in the first round of the 1994 NFL Draft.
He spent his first five seasons with the Rams. That included their move to St. Louis before his second year. That’s when he grabbed the starting job for good. He then moved on to the Steelers where he played for four seasons. In 2003 he signed a six-year deal with the Saints but after three seasons they traded him to the Falcons. He would play into the 2007 season when he tore his ACL and after the season Atlanta cut him. But he was resigned later to replace another injured player and not resigned again.
Starting during his playing days he got into broadcasting. He’s done some sports and entertainment shows and these days is a color analyst for ESPN.

I love this era of football cards. It’s about this time when you got to see more cards of guys on their college teams. And for linemen like Wayne, sometimes it might be their only cards. This is definitely a hole in my collecting for football, but I think I happened to get this in a larger purchase. The signature has a great place to be on this one and Wayne did a good job.
