The Story of the Autograph
Tyler Saladino is an infielder with the Chicago White Sox. He’s played in a variety of positions across the infield and in the outfield, but last year his primary positions would be second or third base. He’s been in the majors since 2015 after being drafted in 2010.
Tyler was born and raised in San Diego. He was a standout in baseball in high school and went on to Palomar College. He hit for a great average while he was there and was draft by the Astros in 2008 but turned it down to stay in school. He would transfer to Oral Roberts where the White Sox would draft him in 2010.
He worked his way through the minors with the White Sox. In 2014 he had to have Tommy John surgery which is not something you think of for an infielder, but he was added to the 40-man roster in November of that year and made his debut in the majors in July of 2015. Thus far with the White Sox Saladino has been light-hitting with only 12 homers in three years (zero last year). He’s really only played a limited amount of though having never played more than 93 games and at most getting 319 plate appearances.
What Tyler might be best known for though is his moustache. It’s pretty sweet. This spring Tyler got a concussion and is working his way make the Opening Day squad.
The Score on Tyler Saladino – 8.0
Tyler has a great signature. I really like the way he puts his number inside that last “o”. Those are the little things that go a long way into making a signature good. Sure, it helps to have an interesting letter in your name or something like that, but you have to make due with what you have for a name. I really like his “S” as well. He used a great marker but I wish part of his number didn’t show up on his dark glove. Overall I like this a lot. If I was going to nit pick I would ask for it to be bigger and centered, but I hope I find more of Tyler’s cards because this one is great.
Thanks Mr. Saladino! This one gets an 8.
